Structure of Music Videos

Hybrid
This is when there is a mixture of various elements (2 or more) within the music video such as performance and narrative or abstract. The following video is an example of this type of music video as there is a narrative told as well as some parts of performance.




Performance

This is when the band/artist performs within the music videos. This is usually through the use of instruments or dancing/singing/rapping on stage. The following video is an example of this type of music video as Beyonce and the background performers are dancing throughout the entire video.
 


Abstract
This is when the video has no relevance to the song. The following Britney Spears video is an example of this type of video as the video of this song has no relevance to the actual song.

Narrative
When a story is being told throughout the video. Below is an example of this type of music video. Throughout the video, we can see a narrative.

Budget Infogram

This infographic is showing the research I have carried out about the music industry , it's history and it's statistics. I have researched important statistics such as the highest grossing music video, the most expensive music video and the video which has most views on YouTube.

My favorite music video

This music video is an example of a hybrid of performance and narrative. I like this music video for a variety of reasons. Firstly because it is shot in a variety of places and has a range of angles. Also because the style of the artists is distinctive as the protagonist of the music video's narrative is dressed as an elephant. Additionally, another good thing about this video is that it appeals to a wide range of people and is therefore successful as a song and music video.
